Our trip to Germany began in Berlin. We flew in on Saturday but besides eating some yummy Italian food and Lanni's first beer in Germany we did not explore until the next day.
We went to the East Side Gallery and walked along the Berlin Wall for about a mile. This is a section of the wall that is still standing and different artists from around the world were invited to paint on the east side of the wall.
This is an original gate. It was a very surreal experience to peer through and imagine how things were when the wall separated Berlin.
In the middle of The East Side Gallery there was this cool bar and restaurant that looked like a beach. We spend some relaxing time here and ate some great sausage!
This is the World Time Clock.
City Hall
Here is the famous television tower.
City Hall from far away.
The Berlin Cathedral, it is spectacular!
Playing in the fountain! It was soo hot!
Ray was super excited about these cars but since cars are not my thing I don't even know what kind of cars they are!
Brandenburger Gate.
Do you see that huge screen on the other side of Brandenburger Gate? Germany played in the World Cup that night and this was an area where Germans could get together and support their team. There was thousands and thousands of people getting ready to watch the game.
These plaques are all around Berlin wherever the wall is not standing anymore to mark where it was and make sure people remember.
The Reichstag is the seat of the German parliament.
Playing around after a long, long day!
Did I mention it was really really hot! Ice cream was a perfect snack.
Mother and daughter sharing a beer! Don't worry that is half cola!
