A few days after Nikki and Lanni arrived was Sweden's National Day. We spent the day at Kulturen. Annalise and Ray are both holding little tiny Swedish flags! Lucas is screaming with joy!
A few days later my cousins Trine, Morton, and their daughter Rikke came to visit us in Sweden! They requested an American breakfast with pancakes and eggs and so after a yummy breakfast we went to the Botanic Gardens and Domkrykan.
Cousins living in three different countries!
Lucas likes to chase ducks while screaming, "duck!"
There is a huge window near the Domkrykan and the kids were pretending to be models!
A rare picture of the moms!
Trying to do a jumping picture.
Annalise and Trine completed the Labyrinth!
The brushing train!
Living in a different country it is so cool to see different traditions. The next few pictures are of high school graduates celebrating. For 2-3 weeks these huge trucks drove very slowly around Lund with loud music blaring and the teenagers in the back screaming and celebrating! Apparently this is how high school (called gymnasiem) graduation is celebrated. The kids looked like they were having a blast!!
The sign says, "Sweden's future, are u scared?"
One of our many trips on the train!
Lanni woke up one day and said she wanted to make biscuits so that is what we did! We found a recipe on the internet and surprise! we actually had all the ingredients. Great idea Lanni!
We took the train to Helsinberg and took the ferry over to Elsingor (in Denmark) to go to Kronberg (otherwise known as the Hamlet castle) on the coldest and rainiest day in all of June.
There is Kronberg and a Danish flag blowing in the freezing breeze.
These two pictures are from the casements which are underneath the castle.
The church in the castle was very impressive.
A picture taken from inside the castle.
We needed to sit for a minute in the tapestry room.
Annalise and I are dancing in the grand ballroom. Lucas is missing out on the fun since he is sleeping on my back.
Here is the castle as we sail away from it on the ferry.
As I said, this was the coldest, windiest, and rainiest day in June. So windy in fact that three of our umbrellas broke!
Hugging cousins!
Here is the final Domkrykan picture for their visit and
their final riding on the bus picture. Between you and me I think they will miss the Runyons but they will not miss being dependent on buses and trains for transportation. They might have even kissed their car when they got home!
