We celebrated my birthday by skipping work and visiting our friends Olof and Alvera and their family in Bastad, Skane. Bastad is an upscale sea side community that is the last train stop in Skane traveling north from Lund. The day we went was the middle of tennis week when Bastad hosts the Swedish Open tennis tournament. Former winners include Bjorn Borg. During this week many people from Stockholm "summer" in Bastad. It is one stop on their summer rounds. There were lots of fancy people and fancy cars. We spent the afternoon at our friends summer house and playing on the longest stretch of sandy beach in Sweden. It was cold!

because we have to build mud dams to contain the water. But the water always wins.
