James and Jackie's Wedding and meet MIndy in Washington D.C.

When Ray and I decided to move to Sweden we planned on only one trip back to the US for Christmas 2012.  (On an aside we leave in 11 days and I am so excited!!).  But then James and Jackie got engaged and I really wanted to go to the wedding.  I knew it was expensive and not part of our plan but I started to look at plane tickets and day dream about going to the wedding.  I told Ray that I wanted to go expecting him to say that it was just not possible.  Well he did not say that.  He agreed that I should go! He is so caring and generous! He actually said that he felt like someone from our family should be there because James has been such a good friend to all the Runyons for many years and recently James and Jackie provided us with some invaluable help when they helped us on our journey to move to Sweden. And he said exactly what I had been feeling, I really felt like I should be there. So I went and it was a great trip for so many reasons!!  Most importantly these people:

I feel so lucky that I am still such close friends with so many of my friends from high school.  I have know these guys for almost 20 years- wow! I feel like the older I get the more I want to remain friends with people who knew me when I was young.
On the bus on the way to the ceremony.

Jason, Ben, and I were part of the unofficial wedding party.
James and Jackie are such a wonderful couple.  I have know James a really LONG time and I have never seen him so happy!

 Ben with his girlfriend Csilla
Jason and his fiance Heidi.  I am so disappointed that I will miss their wedding. If only I could come back to the US every three months for fun.  (Sept for James and Jackie's wedding, December for Christmas, and March for Jason and Heidi's wedding)  Heidi said she would buy a lottery ticket and if it won she would pay my way to attend the wedding, my fingers are crossed!
Here I am with my dates for the wedding. We all left our men at home!

The happy couple!

After the wedding Mindy drove up from Virginia to meet me which was so fun!  Girls weekend with no kids- whoo hoo! We went to the Mall, and a few museums. A totally different experience without kids!!

Do any of you know what this is? Hint it is not, as I thought, an abstract sculpture. It is a pretty accurate representation of a real thing.

Annalise asked before I left if there was pink flowers in Washington D.C. Yes Annalise, there are lots of pink flowers in D.C.!

Thanks for a wonderful wedding weekend James and Jackie!  I had a great time! Thanks for meeting me in D.C. Mindy! Love you guys!
