We went apple picking, plum picking and blackberry picking on a path right next to our old apartment with our old neighbors. This was a lot of fun!

We were invited to a crawfish party in August which is a very traditional way to celebrate August in Sweden. The party was great and the crawfish were HUGE!
We got a babysitter so it was a date night!

We went to Malmofestivalen with our new friends Tor, Cecilia, Maya, and Miriam. We were very excited about this festival because our great friends Wes and Hannah highly recommended it (we miss you guys!). I didn't realize until we were there that this is not just a small weekend festival, it is a whole week of tons of art and music events! When we walked through the city square they were laying down sod for a temporary grassy space to enjoy concerts! When we left the festival we watched a portion of Evita (the opera) acted out on the massive stage. Maybe next year we will get a babysitter and go to one of the concerts!!
It is kind of hard to see but this is a picture of a fountain that has been totally covered by yarn! Each year the festival has a theme and this years theme was sustainability and environmental respect. So I guess the yarn represents materials and products that you could make at home. To me, it makes me think that the water fountain, lamp posts and bicycles get cold during the winter and must be kept warm.

Here is a cathedral in Malmo.
This is one of the alcoves covered by amazing paintings. Originally the whole church looked like this and then it was covered in white paint. This happened in many churches in Skane and now they are removing the white pain to see what is underneath.
After the festival we went to the beach for a little early evening hanging out!

When we arrived in Sweden we went directly to our new apartment. An apartment that we knew nothing about and I remember being a little scared that the apartment would be rundown and ugly and generally not very nice. I was silly to worry because it was awesome! Some of the reasons we loved the apartment: we spent our first ten months in Sweden living in an IKEA catalog, the dagis was across the street and we made lots of friends. It was very hard to leave :-( When I got sad about it Ray said, "If we can move across the world we can move across town Angela." And he was right, he usually is!

Do you like my backpack? Thanks Nikki and Lanni. To be honest when my mommy saw me run around with this on my back she got all teary eyed. I guess it is because I am growing up so fast!
